My only resolution is…

to not make any resolutions.

Resolutions are typically a waste of time. They set us up for failure. They’re too idealistic and vague. They’re ‘it would be nice if’ and don’t lead to results.

Forget the resolutions, and you will have less guilt, less baggage and less disappointment.

Here is what works – on a continual basis – and not just at year end.

Your car needs gas to go somewhere, and so do you. GAS = Goals, Actions, and Scheduling the steps to get you there.

Goals, Actions, Scheduling. It’s that simple.

  1. What are the major goals you want to accomplish in 2011 that will make a dramatic improvement in the quality of your life? If you knew you couldn’t fail, what would you aim for?
  2. What are the action steps and plans that will help you achieve your goals?
  3. What actions will you schedule on a daily or weekly basis to get you to your goals?

What gets scheduled gets done. Get an accountability partner if you need one. Focus on results and outputs.

You deserve to be wildly successful, and you have the drive and resources to accomplish your goals.

So, put on your helmet, buckle up, and hit the GAS.

Implement daily, review weekly, and continually adjust your speed and direction.

The journey can be more than half the fun. And remember, the more comfortable your journey, the more likely you are to maintain the course. Take care of yourself and others.

When in doubt: Aim high. Ask for help. Think long term.

You are cleared for take-off!
